Friday, April 10, 2015

Passenger traffic at airports in mainland China continued to demonstrate strong growth in 2014.

According to the full-year data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the country’s airports handled a total of 831.5 million passengers last year, up 10.2% compared with 2013. Of this total, 89% of traffic (760.6m passengers) was on domestic flights, up 10.1% year-on-year, with the remaining 70.9m passengers on international flights, up 11.7% compared to last year.

The airports in China’s three “megacities”, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, accounted for 28% of all passenger numbers in 2014. Beijing Capital International Airport was the country’s busiest airport – and the second busiest in the world – registering more than 86.1m passengers in 2014, up 3% year-on-year.

Mainland China now has 202 commercial airports.
