The International Olympic Committee announced this month the three host city finalists for the 2022 Winter Olympics, with Beijing in the running along with Oslo, Norway and Almaty, Kazakhstan. Beijing successfully hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics and hopes to be the first city to host both the winter and summer games. Beijing and the bordering city of Zhangjiakou in Hebei would host the various winter activities, utilizing some of the facilities that are already in place from the summer games. The final decision on the host city for the 2022 Olympics will be announced on July 31, 2015.
