Shanghai has the most number of new hotels under development of any city in the Asia Pacific region. According to the latest pipeline report from STR Global, the Chinese city has a total of 8,560 new hotel rooms under construction. The Philippine capital Manila is second with 6,405 rooms, followed by Delhi (5,721), Jakarta (5,634), Chengdu (5,088) and Bali (4,686). In total there are now 2,049 hotels totalling 453,790 rooms either under construction or in the planning stages across Asia Pacific.
