The  cosmopolitan  hub  of Sydney  and the  more  tranquil  northern  city of Cairns  serve  as  the  first  and  final  leg  of this  adventurous  tour  of Australia’s  well-trodden  eastern  half. Within  this  expansive trip lies  a wealth  of the stunning  natural  landscape  that  makes  ‘the land down under’ so famous  and  popular  with  tourists  worldwide.  After the delights of Sydney, venture to Australia's outback and its world renowned  sites of natural  interest  such as the stunning Ayers Rock  and experience Aboriginal culture first-hand. Follow that up with a chance to swim at the amazing Great  Barrier  Reef, before departing from Cairns, with a new found serenity and appreciation of this incredibly beautiful country on this compact but immersive tour.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Arrive Sydney
    • Upon arrival, you will be transferred by shuttle bus to the hotel.
    • Bursting with character, Sydney is a vibrant city catering to all your desires whether you seek exhilaration, exploration or relaxation. Discover Sydney’s unique blend of dining, shopping and recreation options in one of the world’s most attractive city environments. Sydney's sparkling harbour is the jewel in the city's crown.It's flanked by golden beaches and bushland, and is home to one of the most famous bridges in the world.

  • Day 2:
    Magical Manly & Beyond with Magistic Lunch Cruise (L)
    • The morning Half Day Sydney Sights with AAT Kings is a perfect option for those who have a tight schedule or those who don’t wish to be on tour for a full day. This tour is a thorough introduction to Sydney and its neighbours.
    • Travel to Manly Beach for a wonderful stroll along The Corso to see the beach that has made Manly famous. Along the way to Manly, you will view Darling Harbour and then cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Stop at Milsons Point for spectacular views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Stop at Arabanoo Lookout for a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.
    • Enjoy your time at Manly beach before heading back to Sydney via the exclusive and trendy suburbs of Neutral Bay and Mosman. Then onto a luncheon cruise to create a perfect end to the day. Conclude your morning tour at either King Street Wharf or Circular Quay to join a lunch cruise with Magistic Cruises.

  • Day 3:
    Full Day Blue Mountains & Wildlife (L)
    • Discover the spectacular Blue Mountains and see native wildlife whilst you explore World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park. This rugged and beautiful region forms part of the Great Dividing Range, linking tropical north to temperate south, while dividing coastal cities from the vast Outback. Enjoy a stop at Echo Point and see the famous Three Sisters rock formation.
    • Arrive at Scenic World and join the optional Blue Mountain rides - Scenic Railway, Cableway or Skyway (own expense). These rides are a great way to see the steep valleys, canyons and Three Sisters rock formation. Discover Leura village where you will have free time for lunch or the chance to wander the streets.
    • Next, we enjoy an afternoon encounter at Featherdale Park and have your photo taken with a cuddly koala, see kangaroos, wombats, dingoes and cute little fairy penguins. Our last stop will be at Homebush Bay, the venue of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Here, you have the opportunity to catch your river cruise vessel back to Sydney and enjoy a relaxing cruise along the Parramatta River (own expense). If you do not wish to join the ferry, the coach will arrive in Sydney at approximately 5.45pm.

  • Day 4:
    Sydney to Ayers Rock (D)
    • Shuttle transfer from the hotel to Sydney Airport.
    • Upon arrival in Ayers Rock, please make your own way to the courtesy coach desk for your transfer to your accommodation.
    • Ayers Rock or Uluru is one of Australia's most identifiable icons. The large sandstone rock formation lies in the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park approximately 450 km southwest from Alice Springs. The Ayers Rock site is considered sacred to the local Aborigines. The rock’s colour changes spectacularly with the sunset, gradually turning to a deeper shade of red before fading into grey and blending into the night. The reverse can be witnessed as dawn approaches.
    • Voyages Free Daily Activities: The FREE Daily activities at Voyages Ayers Rock Resort continue to be extremely popular with guests.
    • The daily activities includes indigenous art markets, guided garden walks, self-guided garden walks, bush yarns, cultural dance workshop, spear & boomerang throwing, Wakagetti cultural dancers, interactive didgeridoo playing and tours and information centre.
    • Note: The free activities are subject to change without notice. Please enquire with your hotel reception to confirm operating times. Please be aware that their Indigenous performers are traditional people with strong cultural obligations. Wet weather may also impact the location or time of the scheduled activity.
    • Sounds of Silence Dinner: At the Sounds of Silence experience you can dine under the canopy of the desert night, while your very own storyteller shares tales as told in the stars. Entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Sounds of Silence offers the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magical hours. An evening of dining under the sparkling outback sky.
    • Sounds of Silence experience begins with canapés and chilled sparkling wine served on a viewing platform overlooking the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. As the sun sets and darkness falls, listen to the sound of a didgeridoo and join your table for an unforgettable dining experience and an introduction to Aboriginal culture with a traditional dance performance under the outback sky. The attentive staff will keep your glass full with a quality selection of Australian wine and beer while first course is served. As the night sky twinkles to life, help yourself to a bush tucker inspired buffet that incorporates native bush ingredients such as crocodile, kangaroo, barramundi and quandong.
    • Settle back and listen to the resident star talker decode the southern night sky. Locate the Southern Cross, the signs of the zodiac, the Milky Way, as well as planets and galaxies that are visible due to the exceptional clarity of the atmosphere. After dinner, enjoy dessert with a glass of port, tea or coffee.

  • Day 5:
    Morning Uluru Sunrise Base or Climb Tour & Afternoon Kata Tjuta and Uluru Sunset Tour
    • Morning - Uluru Sunrise Base or Climb Tour*
    • Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytjaku. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. After watching the sunrise you will join your AAT Kings Driver Guide for a tour around the base of Uluru. Travel by coach to the Mutitjulu Walk where you will be escorted to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your Driver Guide indicates some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about Aboriginal culture and see Aboriginal arts and crafts, before returning to Ayers Rock Resort. On days when the Uluru Climb is open, those with a good level of fitness will have the opportunity to climb Uluru as an alternative to the Uluru Base Tour. Return to Ayers Rock Resort.
    • Afternoon – Kata Tjuta and Uluru Sunset Tour*
    • Travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way, stop at a lookout for panoramic views the southern side of Kata Tjuta. Continue on before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. In the late afternoon we travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness and photograph the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset whilst enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine.

  • Day 6:
    Ayers Rock – Cairns
    • Today is at your leisure until your transfer to the airport for your onward journey to Cairns.
    • Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel by shuttle.
    • The remainder of the day is at leisure to discover the city of Cairns. Cairns is your gateway to this vibrant region. You'll find the warm climate reflected in a friendly welcome. Be lured by a stunning array of dining choices, choose from a range of tours and see for yourself why Cairns has been voted Australia's most liveable regional city. Use Cairns as your base to explore lush tropical rainforest, cosy villages and to access tropical islands and the Great Barrier Reef.

    Michaelmas Day Cruise
    • Set sail aboard the 32 metre luxury sailing catamaran, Ocean Spirit, for a day to remember to Michaelmas Cay - a low lying vegetated sand cay encircled by a spectacular fringing reef, a National Park and a protected sanctuary for migratory seabirds. Today's experience with a wide range of activities will make you fully experience Michaelmas Cay’s unique reef environment. Be active and enjoy all the included activities...
    • Snorkelling is fun and a great way to experience the many treasures of the Great Barrier Reef! With easy access from the beach at Michaelmas Cay, people of all ages, whether you’re experienced or a novice, can enjoy the reef, quietly drifting over the myriad of corals and colourful fish. The Cay, with its calm, shallow waters, is ideal for first-timers and young families who want to experience it together. Most of the reef's diversity, around 90% of it, is known to be in the top 4 metres of the water. Take a cruise on a semi-sub, seated just one metre below the waterline, you’ll get a diver’s view of the reef without getting wet! With the large viewing windows, the expert crew provide an informative commentary on the corals and marine life before your eyes as you learn about the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef in this interactive tour.

  • Day 8:
    Daintree Walkabout
    • Enjoy a Daintree Walkabout tour with Downunder Tours.
    • After arriving at Mossman Gorge, you will be treated to a guided rainforest walk "Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime Walk" along private, easy graded tracks, visiting special places and culturally significant sites, past traditional bark shelters and over cool rainforest streams. The experienced interpretive Indigenous guide demonstrate traditional plant use, identify bush tucker sources, share their dreamtime legends, explain the history of cave paintings and provide an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationships within this unique tropical environment.
    • After your 1.5 hour walk, enjoy tea, damper and question time with guide.
    • Continue to Mossman where your driver/guide will point out the highlights of Australia’s most northern sugar town. Silky Oaks Lodge is the lunch venue today in a beautiful oasis amidst the rainforest, overlooking the Mossman River. Note: Dress Code applies. In the afternoon, enjoy a fascinating hour cruising on Daintree River. This wildlife environment is home to birds, tree snakes, unique plants and the estuarine crocodile - a great photo opportunity.

    • En-route back, enjoy a short tour of the historical town of Port Douglas and continue back to your hotel drop-off.

  • Day 9:
    Kuranda Rail, Skyrail & Tjapukai
    • You will be picked up by Down Under Tours at your accommodation and issued a Kuranda Boarding Pass, which includes a detailed itinerary, pre-allocated preferential Kuranda Scenic Railway seating, map of Kuranda, and discounted entry into selected attractions.
    • Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park: On arrival, meet your Indigenous guide who will show you through the remainder of the Park, including bush food demonstrations, didgeridoo demonstrations, movie theatres, fire making demonstrations and the famous Tjapukai Dance Troupe.
    • Skyrail Rainforest Cableway: A short distance from Tjapukai is the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Proceed directly to the boarding line – there is no need to queue as your Skyrail tickets are already on your Boarding Pass. Once aboard, be amazed as you glide silently over the rainforest. There are 2 stations enroute where you can alight and enjoy a walk through the rainforest to spectacular lookouts, or visit the CSIRO Interpretive Centre.
    • Kuranda Village: Upon arrival in Kuranda, you have free time to do your own exploring!
    • Kuranda Scenic Rail: Board the famous train for an amazing journey, as you travel one of the world's most scenic rail routes, through hand-hewn tunnels and over bridges spanning spectacular gorges.
    • Transfer back to the hotel.
