Guizhou is one of southwest China’s hidden treasures; being relatively undeveloped, it has been often overlooked by the rest of China, leaving its mystic beauty quiet and untouched by changes in the modern world. This is great news for travelers, as the wonders that lie tucked away in Guizhou are yours for the discovering. Studded with towering mountains and dramatic valleys, Guizhou is home to some of the most awe-inspiring landscape in the East. On your travels you’ll be met by lush forests, mountains haloed by rings of mist, and elegant rice terraces.

But what really makes Guizhou special is the people that live there. Over half the land in this province has been designated as autonomous regions for China’s ethnic minority people, and almost all of the wide array of ethnic groups in China can be found residing in Guizhou. Known for their spirited and colorful traditional clothing, the minority groups of Guizhou will welcome you to their villages and you’ll discover a new way of life preserved amongst the mountains of this wondrous province. If you thought coming to China was something new, wait until you see Guizhou.
