Hangzhou's Grand Canal Keeps Love Afloat This Autumn

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Hangzhou has been a prosperous city since ancient times with the majority of this prosperity being owed to the Grand Canal. Now a UNESCO world heritage site, this magnificent waterway makes Hangzhou irresistible to all - be you an emperor or a modern day civilian. In full flow for over 2400 years, the Beijing - Hangzhou Grand Canal runs southwards and traverses 1800 kilometers while passing eight cities. It possesses the exact same qualities what we expect from love and marriage, a time-honored origin and a promising future. For this memorable event ten lucky couples will be picked and a unique traditional Chinese wedding ceremony will be performed for them. The wedding ceremony will include procedures like dressing up brides and waiting for the groom, a wedding procession along the famous Grand Canal, exchanging vows in Xinyifang, paying respect to each other and both sets of parents as well as heaven and earth and praying in Xiangji Temple.
