Tuesday, February 3, 2015

China's Xiamen Airlines will commence its first ever flights to Europe this summer, with a new route to Amsterdam. The airline recently received permission from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to launch the route, which will be operate direct from Xiamen’s Gaoqi International Airport, in southeast China's Fujian province. Bookings could open as early as March, once Europe’s aviation authorities approve the route. Xiamen Airlines will operate the Xiamen-Amsterdam route using a 237-seat Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft featuring four seats in first class, 18 in business class and 215 in economy. As well as being Xiamen Airlines' first European destination, the Amsterdam service will mark the airline's first ever long-haul service. Currently the carrier operates wide domestic network plus international services to Thailand, Cambodia, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia. And the long-haul expansion will continue in October, with plans to launch Xiamen Airlines' first flights to Australia. Xiamen Airlines also plans to enter the US in future.
