China's railways experienced a surge in passenger traffic during for the Mid-Autumn Festival period, which started on Friday. According to the forecast from the China Railway Corporation (CRC), the country's rail network will carry 31.2 million passengers during the four-day travel rush, up 12.4% compared to the corresponding period last year. On Friday alone, China's railways are believed to have handled 7.6m passengers, up 11.8% year-on-year. The Mid-Autumn Festival, which actually falls on Monday, is a traditional occasion for family reunions in China.
