Tibet Airlines plans International flights

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Tibet Airlines is planning launch its first international flights with a new route to neighbouring Nepal. The carrier, which is part owned by Air China, is planning to commence a new service connecting Chengdu, in southwest China's Sichuan province, with Nepal's capital Kathmandu. This will mark its first route beyond the borders of China. In preparation for its international expansion, Tibet Airlines recently recruited flight attendants in Chengdu who are fluent in either Tibetan or English. Tibet Airlines was founded in 2010 and currently operates more than 30 domestic routes from its bases in Lhasa, Chengdu and Chongqing. The carrier has a fleet of nine Airbus A319 aircraft, but plans to expand this rapidly, reaching a total of 50 within five years.
