On-time performance sees improvement in China

Monday, February 27, 2012

On-time performance at Chinese airports improved last year. Data from air traffic management revealed that 77.9% of scheduled flights were on time last year, a two percentage point improvement from 2010.

Speaking to the China Daily, an official with the country’s Air Traffic Management Bureau said that “significant improvements” had been seen on routes between Beijing and Shanghai with on-time departures up 30% year-on-year, while performance improved by 11% on flights between Beijing and Guangzhou.

Looking forward, authorities will aim to improve punctuality by a further two percentage points this year, and reduce average flight delays by at least 5%
