The largest metropolis in China, and her neighboring cultural gem, Suzhou, make up the perfect weekend getaway. With the opening-up of a new high speed line connecting Beijing and Shanghai, getting to these cities along the Yangtze Delta has never been quicker. Allow the train to whisk you from the center of the Imperial Capital to the beating heart of Shanghai in under 5 hours.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing – Shanghai (D)
    • Arrive independently at Beijing South Train Station
    • Take the morning high speed train to Shanghai
    • Upon arrival in the afternoon, your guide and driver will meet you at the train station
    • Transfer to the hotel
    • Visit the Bund river front, the time honored symbol of Shanghai which showcases the city’s Neo-classical European imperial past.
    • Huangpu river cruise in the evening
    • Overnight in Shanghai
  • Day 2:
    Shanghai (B L)
    • Breakfast at the hotel
    • Today, start your trip with a serene visit to the Yuyuan Garden, a beautifully preserved example of a Ming dynasty garden nestled among the throngs of the Old Town, home to fascinating narrow streets, markets and traditional Shanghai houses known as 'Shikumen’
    • Then head to the Jade Buddha Temple, an active site of worship and home to a precious Buddha sculpted out of a single piece of white jade.
    • After lunch, visit the Shanghai World Financial Center and SKY WALK on the 100th floor of the tallest skyscraper in China.
    • Free time in the evening to enjoy the best of Shanghai nightlife.
    • Overnight in Shanghai
  • Day 3:
    Shanghai – Suzhou – Shanghai (B L)
    • In the morning, transfer via a short train ride to Suzhou, famous for its canals and gardens in the Southern Chinese style. The most intricate and exquisite of these, the Master of Nets' Garden and the Lion Grove Garden boast views that change with every bend in the path, and offers the perfect blend of rocks, water, and greenery.
    • In the afternoon, visit Suzhou's picturesque canals which gave the city the name "The Venice of the East."
    • We will have the opportunity to visit the No.1 Silk Factory where you can see how silk is processed from the silk worm to the final woven cloth.
    • Transfer to the train station and return to Shanghai
    • Overnight in Shanghai  
  • Day 4:
    Shanghai – Beijing (B)
    • Breakfast at the hotel.
    • In the morning, visit the French Concession and the Xintiandi Shopping Area which offer glimpses into both Shanghai's glamorous past and its equally glamorous present as a leader in style and commerce.
    • Transfer to the train station and take the high speed train back to Beijing.
