Located on the eastern edge of the North China Plain, Shandong Province is home to many of China's historical and cultural treasures. Walk a path of enlightenment, from Mt. Taishan, a site with the world's longest history of continuous religious worship, to Qufu, the birthplace of Confucius, and see the best this beautiful province has to offer.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing South – Jinan West – Taian
    • Take the Express Train from Beijing South Station to Jinan West Station Train: G31, 08:05 – 09:37 (Second class)
    • Upon arrival, meet local tour guide
    • Afterwards you will visit Baotu Spring Park- Centered around hot springs, Baotu Spring Park is a natural rock and spring garden with a unique ethnic style. Baotu Spring, the most famous of the 72 springs in Jinan, is hailed as "the first spring under heaven". A spectacular sight, spring water spurts out in three prongs as water droplets float to the ground like falling snow.
    • Then you will visit Daming Lake Park - Daming Lake Park, regarded as the bright pearl of the City of Springs, is located in the center of Jinan City and covers a total area of 860,000 square meters (about 212 acres) of which, the lake itself comprises 460,000 square meters (about 113 acres). The six islands in Daming Lake contain flowers, trees and other plants flourishing amongst the various pavilions.
    • In the afternoon, transfer to Taian. On the way, you will visit Lingyan Temple, a Buddhist temple located 20 kilometers from Tai'an in Changqing, Shandong. The temple grounds are situated along the western Taishan range and have a long recorded history. Notable landmarks include the 11th century Pizhi Pagoda tower, and the Thousand Buddha Hall which houses a Ming Dynasty bronze Buddha statue as well as 40 painted clay statues of life-size Luohan from the Song Dynasty.
    • Upon arrival in Taian, check in at the hotel. Leisure time to relax and refresh.

  • Day 2:

    • Breakfast at the hotel
    • Today you will visit Mt. Taishan with its abundant cultural treasures. Mt. Taishan is honored as a sacred mountain and the symbol of Chinese national spirit. From ancient times to the Qing Dynasty, emperors came to this revered peak to hold grand ceremonies to worship the Gods of Heaven and Earth. On the mountain there are 22 ancient complexes, more than 1,800 carved stones, nearly 20,000 ancient trees and numerous poems and masterpieces written by scholars throughout different dynasties, all of which make Mt. Taishan the epitome of oriental culture. You will take a shuttle bus to get to Central Heaven Gate and then walk or take the cable car to the summit.
    • Afterwards you will visit Dai Temple - This huge temple complex is in the centre of town with Mt Taishan as its background. Traditionally a pilgrimage stop on the road to the sacred mountain, the temple was also the site of huge sacrifices made to the god of Mt Taishan. The main hall is the yellow-eaved Temple of Heavenly Blessing that dates back to AD 1009.
    • Transfer to Qufu.

  • Day 3:
    Qufu – Beijing (B)
    • Breakfast at the hotel
    • Today you will visit – Confucius Temple, Confucius Cemetery & Confucius Descendants.
    • Then you will visit Shouqiu Mausoleum – Birthplace of our Yellow Emperor, and Shaohao Tomb - the tomb of Shao Hao who was one of the five emperors in ancient China. His name means "little son of Heaven" or "the second emperor". He founded the capital in Qiongsang Prefecture, and later moved it to Qufu. He ruled as emperor for 84 years and lived a very long life, dying of natural causes when he was 100 years old.
    • Then transfer to railway station, return to Beijing Train: G144 17:02 – 19:15 (Second class)
