Nanjing, meaning 'southern capital', holds reminders of many major events that shaped China's modern history including the Opium Wars, the Taiping Rebellion, Sun Yat-sen's Republic of China, Japanese pre-WWII invasion and the final days of Nationalist rule. Nanjing's historical sites are certainly a vital key to gaining a deeper understanding of China, then and now. Despite many turbulent days in its past, today, Nanjing is a thriving economic center and gateway to foreign investment as the capital of vibrant Jiangsu Province.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing - Nanjing

    Flight from Beijing to Nanjing.

    Upon arrival in Nanjing in the afternoon you will be met by your local guide at the airport.

    Transfer to the hotel.

    Overnight in Nanjing

  • Day 2:
    Nanjing (B, L)

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    Today, you will first visit the Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen and Linggu Park. Located in a vast area known as Purple Mountain, the lavish burial ground of Sun Yat-sen commemorates the revered leader who brought down the Qing dynasty in 1911.

    Then, transfer to the Memorial of the Nanjing Massacre, Nanjing Museum. This somber memorial to the 300,000 Nanjing residents massacred in 1937 is built over the site of a mass grave.

    Overnight in Nanjing

  • Day 3:
    Nanjing - Beijing (B)

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    Free time to discover Nanjing.

    In the afternoon, the tour guide will meet you at the hotel.

    Transfer to airport for the flight back to Beijing.
