Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing/Shanghai – Chengdu (L)
    • Flight to Chengdu in the morning.
    • Upon arrival in Chengdu, our local partner will meet you at airport.
    • Transfer to hotel.
    • In the afternoon visit the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, where you will encounter one of the most endangered animals in the world, the giant panda, along with its equally endearing cousin, the lesser red panda.
    • An autumn visit could include seeing tiny newborn pandas in their "nursery".
    • Overnight in Chengdu
  • Day 2:
    Chengdu – Leshan – Mt. Emei (B L D)
    • In the morning drive to Leshan, a friendly city, where you will visit the 71 meter high Grand Buddha at the Lingyun Temple. This immense carving was begun in 713 AD by a Buddhist monk engineer/fund-raiser in hopes of stopping the deaths of boatmen who were often lost in a swirling hollow where the Dadu and Min rivers meet. This purpose was actually accomplished as the rock debris removed from the cliff face filled in the dangerous hollow and calmed the river’s waters.
    • Then a cruise on the Min River will provide you with further views of the Grand Buddha.
    • Transfer to Mt. Emei in the evening.
    • Overnight on Mt. Emei
  • Day 3:
    Mt. Emei (B L D)
    • Early in the morning we will take an eco-tourism coach to the Lei Dongping parking lot which is next to the Golden Summit.
    • After a pleasant 30 minute walk to the cable car station, you will take the cable car to the Golden Summit. With an elevation of 3099 meters, if it is a fine day, you will be in for a treat of luxuriant green vistas stretching out below your feet; the Min, Qingyi and Dadu Rivers are like three pieces of silk stringing their way through the mountains and Daxue and Gongga mountain ranges appear to hold up the sky that glows with an almost holy light.
    • Check in at Jin Ding Hotel
    • Sightseeing at Huazang Temple. Huazang Temple sits at 3,077 meters (10095 ft.) above sea level on top of the Golden Summit, Mt. Emei. This is the main peak (though not the highest point) of Emei Mountain, which is the highest of all the most common mountain tourist destinations in China. Huangzang Temple was constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and was restored in the 1970's to its original condition. It contains three halls: the Laughing Buddha Hall, the Great Hero Hall and the Hall of Universal Benevolence God
    • Leisure Time for yourself
    • Overnight at E’mei Golden Summit
  • Day 4:
    E’Mei (B L D)
    • Take an eco-tourism coach down to the base of Wannian Temple
    • Take cable car up to visit Wannian Temple, located halfway up the mountain.
    • The temple was initially built in 420 and was given the present name of Wannian Temple (Ten-Thousand-Years Temple) by Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty (1537-1619) who wished to celebrate his mother's birthday and changed the name of the temple in hope of her longevity. The importance of the temple lies in not only its long history and glorious past, but also being the main ritual place of the Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.
    • Inside the Mongolian, tent-shaped, beamless brick hall is a 7.3 meter statue of Samantabhadra sitting on an elephant, which was cast in Chengdu in 980 during the Song Dynasty and weighs 62,000 kg. Afterwards trek downhill via the Qingyin Pavillion, Yixiantian and monkey area. Finish at the Wuxiangang car park where you will board an eco-tourism car to the foot of the mountain
    • Your sightseeing at E'mei will conclude with a visit to E'Mei Museum (closed on Mondays)
    • Overnight on E'mei Mountain
  • Day 5:
    E’Mei-Zi Gong (B L D)
    • Transfer from E’mei to Zi Gong in the morning (approx. 5 hour journey)
    • Arrive in Zi Gong in the early afternoon.
    • Then sightseeing at Zigong Dinosaur Museum.
    • The Dinosaur Museum holds affiliated buildings, a green belt and halls which include a fossil burial hall, central hall, conference room, dinosaur ecological environment hall, and so on. Since its opening in 1987, the museum has enjoyed a top reputation with its unique architectural style, magnificent burial site, life-like exhibits and elegant environment. With two floors and a basement, the huge rock cave-like museum exhibits dinosaur fossils, dinosaur sites, plants and animals from the age of dinosaurs, and rare species of dinosaurs.
    • Overnight in Zigong
  • Day 6:
    Zigong -Chengdu - Beijing/Shanghai (B L)
    • Your last sightseeing excursion will be to Zigong Salt History Museum
    • Zigong Salt History Museum is the only one of its kind in the whole of China. It was established in 1959 in the center of Zigong City, Sichuan Province.
    • The museum's mission is to collect, study, preserve and display implements and artifacts relating to salt mining. Large scale mural paintings depict the 2,000 year evolution of mine drilling, salt making, and natural gas usage. The museum exhibits over 1,300 different implements, including a complete set of over 500 drilling tools. Most of the items displayed are exceptionally advanced for their time. They exemplify not only the prosperity of Zigong's salt making industry, but also the wisdom and engineering skills of the indigenous Chinese people. Visitors to the museum, numbering about 20,000 annually, are actually permitted to operate many of the salt mining devices.
    • Transfer to Chengdu airport in the afternoon.
    • Flight back to Beijing / Shanghai.
