Set yourself adrift through this world of waterways, lakes and streams to where wealthy silk and salt merchants rubbed shoulders with some of classical China’s most famous scholars. Centuries of wealth, both commercial and cultural, can be seen at every turn. Take a trip back in time while exploring the world-famous gardens of literati escapism in Suzhou, the serene canal town of Wuzhen, and the unique lake-side vistas of Hangzhou. Discover for yourself why the surrounding scenery has set the stage for some of China’s greatest poetry and love stories.  

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing–Suzhou-Dongshan
    • Arrive independently at the Beijing South Railway station and take bullet train to Suzhou. 
    • Train Schedule: G113 09:05-14:04
    • Transfer to Dongshan
    • Overnight in Dongshan
  • Day 2:
    Dongshan-Suzhou- Wuzhen (B)
    • Visit Luxiang Village
    • Drive to Suzhou (40mins)
    • Visit the Master of the Nets Garden and the Suzhou Museum
    • Drive to Wuzhen (2hours)
    • Overnight in Wuzhen
  • Day 3:
    Wuzhen- Hangzhou (B)
    • Tour in Wuzhen Water Town
    • Your experience in Wuzhen includes calligraphy writing done by yourself on a stone tablet or attending a local talk show called Ping Tan (if time permits).
    • Drive to Hangzhou (2hours)
    • Overnight in Hangzhou
  • Day 4:
    Hangzhou (B)
    • Visit the local market
    • Boat tour on West Lake.     
    • Sip tea at the famous Dragon Well Village
    • Visit the Chinese Tea Museum
    • Overnight in Hangzhou
  • Day 5:
    Hangzhou-Beijing (B)
    • To complete your tour of Hangzhou, make a special visit to the Monastery of Hidden Souls
    • Then transfer to the train station to take a bullet train back to Beijing
