Travel content

Although officially China is a nation of atheists, Huangshan mountain might be the exception to that rule. Revered as an icon - much like Mount Fuji in Japan – Huangshan (or Yellow mountain as it translates) has features which might just bring out the believer in you as you ascend gracefully by cable car to its many peaks, but not before stopping off at the local villages which surround its foothills – including Hongkun, chosen as a location for Oscar award winning Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. With time for a leisurely cycle tour, taking in bamboo forests and the chance to see the impressive Baolin ancestral hall and enigmatic Tangyue Memorial Archway, there's no shortage of activities to keep you enthralled as you pay homage to China's most celebrated mountain top.
