The opening of the new Shanghai Disney Resort has been scheduled for spring 2016. Disney's chief executive, Robert Iger, said last week that major construction work will be completed by the end of this year, with a "spectacular grand opening" planned for next spring. The park, which will be Disney's largest, was initially scheduled to open in 2015, but plans to expand the attraction have pushed back the launch date. Covering 3.9km² in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, the Disney Resort will include the theme park, two hotels, a theatre and large retail.
