TUI China was invited to attend the first China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS)

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

To facilitate growth and cooperation in services trade, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, working with the Beijing Municipal Government, conducted the first China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) from 28 May to 1 June 2012.

On May 29, the International Tourism Services Forum in CIFTIS highlighted the achievements of Beijing tourism development, discussed ways to promote comprehensive city tourism services, and provided a platform for dialogue about tourism services.

This forum was attended by Chinese and foreign leaders of international organizations and senior executives of multinational corporations. Mr. Marcel Schneider, CEO of TUI China, was invited to attend as the only speaker representing a local foreign joint venture travel company.

Regarding TUI China’s success in building the international World of TUI brand in China, Mr. Schneider commented, “The key element of running business in China is to have a reliable partner. Our partner, China Travel Service, provided the foundation for the success of our company. This combined with our resources in over 180 countries and 88 year European heritage gives us an advantage over our competitors.”

TUI China not only provides in-depth travel knowledge and expertise, but also a different approach to quality, service delivery, training and product innovation. Mr. Schneider emphasized that tourism as a part of the service industry needs to be people-oriented. “We have to be passionate about our visitors,” he stated. “They come to China aiming to get an authentic feel for Chinese traditions, history, and culture, and we need to meet their expectations. At TUI China, it is our ambition to discover and deliver what the customer wants. For the majority of inbound travelers, China is not just a country; it’s a continent. With its diverse landscapes, wide variety of cultures, and innumerable historical sites, it has much to offer. It is a tourist destination that attracts both first-time and repeat visitors.”

The first CIFTIS was a great success and will be held annually in Beijing.
